The FAQ is designed to answer many of your questions and help you correctly install the bobTV Webcam Chat.

This page includes questions / answers the most commonly raised by BobTV users. If at the end of your research, you can not find answer(s) to your questions, I invite you to contact me on the "Contact" page of the site.

Read before to start:
- It is mandatory to use the Internet Explorer browser to connect to My bobTV Chat rooms.
The chat room bobTV HD works with Internet Explorer, Chrome, Firefox, Safari and Opera.
All chat rooms only work with Windows 7, Vista or XP.
- Internet broadband access 512 Kb/s minimum is recommended.
- You must register and create a free account at your first visit.
- You must accept the CamfrogWeb ActiveX installation on your computer to start the bobTV application.
- Select your audio and video source in "Settings" before to enter Chat Room.
- Take time to read Terms of Service (CGU).

  • 1. I can not register and create my nick.
    - Your nickname may contain letters or numbers, without dashes or spaces. You must be over 18 to register a nickname. Only one nickname can be created with one email.
  • 2. I did not receive the confirmation email after my registration.
    - The free email, like Hotmail may consider the sent email as a Spam, check the corresponding directory to find your mail. (junk mail directory on Hotmail, for example).
    - If you can not find this email, please contact me so that I activate your account.
  • 3. I received the email to confirm my registration when I click on the link, I read the message: "Activation URL is invalid".
    - Make sure the link is identical to the following:
    http://bobtv.fr/register/activate.php?SID=xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
    (xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx) is 32 alpha-numeric characters. This link can be splittted in two in email. You need to gather two parts by copy and paste the link to get the original form.
    - If you are unable to collect the link contact me so that I activate your account.
  • 4. I can not log on the site and I see the message: "Username or password incorrect".
    - You use an incorrect password. Click on "forgot your password", it will be sent to your email address.
    - If you have not received the confirmation email. Contact me so that I activate your account.
  • 5. I can not log on the site. When I enter my username and password, the fields disappear and I remain on the login page.
    - Remove cookies from the Tools menu in Internet Explorer: Tools / Internet Options / General / Delete Cookies.
    - Check the time and date of your Windows clock is up to date.
    - Restart your computer.
  • 6. I can not connect to the site. When I enter my username and password, I am directed to a blank page.
    - You probably disabled SSL / TLS in your Internet Options. Enable from the Tools menu in Internet Explorer: Tools / Internet Options / Advanced.
  • 7. Everything worked perfectly before and now I can't connect to the site or use the chat.
    - It is possible that your computer has recently done a change of system files after installing a new program, new hardware or an action on your part. You can restore the settings of your computer to its previous state. This maneuver is safe for your documents. The tool "System Restore" is available in the "Start" menu of Windows: Start Menu / All Programs / Accessories / System Tools / System Restore. Simply restore the system to a date earlier than the emergence of the problem.
  • 8. I want to change my nickname or my password.
    - Free users can change their password by clicking on "Edit your profile".
    - XXL members can change their username and password by clicking on the link "Change your profile".
  • 9. I can not go into all chat rooms. Rooms are closed or restricted to XXL.
    - Some rooms can be reserved for XXL in the absence of moderator.
  • 10. When I click on the link "Enter My bobTV", a window opens but nothing happens. I do not see the yellow bar that offers me to download ActiveX.
    - Make sure you use Internet Explorer version 5.5 or later and Windows 7, Vista, XP or 2000.
    - The default security level must be activated from the Tools menu in Internet Explorer:
    Tools / Internet Options / Security / Default Level.
    - Add http://www.bobtv.fr and http://bobtv.fr to the list of "Trusted sites" from the "Tools" menu in Internet Explorer: Tools / Internet Options / Security / Trusted sites. Be sure to uncheck the secure connection option "https".
    - You must accept the installation of ActiveX CamfrogWeb on your computer. Click the yellow bar at the top of your window to accept the ActiveX download.
    - If you do not see the yellow bar at the top of the window you can download the ActiveX directly from the server of bobTV Clicking this link: http://www.bobtv.fr/download/CFWebU.exe.
  • 11. I can not connect to chat rooms. I read the message: "Other instance of CamfrogWeb is already running on this computer".
    - This means that the chat is already open on your computer in another Internet Explorer window. Restart your computer to close all running applications.
  • 12. I can not connect to chat rooms. I read the message: "failed to download skin file".
    - The default security level must be activated from the Tools menu in Internet Explorer:
    Tools / Internet Options / Security / Default Level.
    - Add http://www.bobtv.fr and http://bobtv.fr to the list of "Trusted sites" from the "Tools" menu in Internet Explorer: Tools / Internet Options / Security / Trusted sites. Be sure to uncheck the secure connection option "https".
  • 13. I can not connect to chat rooms. I read the message: "Failed to locate CamfrogWeb ActiveX control".
    - You must reinstall the CamfrogWeb ActiveX. To uninstall this ActiveX from the Windows Wizard choose:
    Start menu / Control Panel / Add or Remove Programs / CamfrogWeb ActiveX / Remove.
    Then again enter the site for the ActiveX installation.
  • 14. I can not connect to chat rooms and I use a firewall, router, or BOX (Livebox, Freebox, Neufbox ...).
    - The Chat works with all routers, firewall (firewall) and BOX. On your firewall keep open TCP ports 6007-6090 for outbound connections. The video-stream transfer requires UDP ports 5000-15000.
  • 15. I can not connect to chat rooms. When I click on the "Welcome! Enter bobTV" the connection fails.
    - Check your Internet connection and the status of your network provider. Keep open TCP ports 6007-6090 for outgoing connections on your router, firewall or BOX.
  • 16. I can not see other users Webcams.
    - If you use a firewall, disable or add www.bobtv.fr to the list of allowed sites.
    - In the display properties, select 32-bit color quality. To open the "Display Properties" right-click on the Windows desktop: Desktop / right click / Properties / Settings.
    - Go to http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com to update your DirectX driver.
    - If you do not have ADSL, you can not open multiple Webcams at once.
    - Some users have a webcam but it is not turned on.
    - Some Codec Pack is not compatible with the bobTV application. If you downloaded and installed some package on your computer, you must uninstall.
    - If you're running Vista, you must disable the protected mode in Internet options:
    Start menu / Control Panel / Internet Options / Security / Turn Off protected mode.
  • 17. Other users can not see my webcam.
    - Download the updated driver for your Webcam on the site of the manufacturer.
    - Select your video source by clicking on the "Settings" before entering the chat room. If you are already logged in, click on "Chat OFF".
    - Certain Codec Pack is not compatible with the bobTV application and can cause malfunctions. If you downloaded and installed these packages on your computer, you must uninstall. For example, "Nimo Codec Pack" and "Ace Mega Codec Pack" can cause black picture of webcam.
    - Remove these packs from the Windows Wizard: Start menu / Control Panel / Add or Remove Programs.
    - Be sure to close all or instant messaging applications that could occupy your webcam when Windows starts. You must turn off MSN before opening bobTV.
  • 18. I can not use my microphone. Other users do not hear me.
    - Select your audio source by clicking on the "Settings" before entering the chat room. If you are already logged in, click on "Chat OFF".
  • 19. I cannot change font settings in the main chat window. Font settings window does not appear when I click Font button. I cannot see user information (sex, webcam, status, age) in the user list of the chat window when I move mouse pointer over the user nickname.
    - Turn off Windows Vista "User Account Control". Open Control Panel: Start/Control Panel/User Accounts and Family Safety/User Accounts. Open "Turn User Account Control on or off". Uncheck the checkbox "Use User Account Control (UAC) to help protect your computer". Click Ok to save the changes. Restart your computer.
  • 20. The Webcam that I viewed closes automatically after 10 minutes of connection.
    - Every 24 hours, users of the free version of bobTV can view a Webcam for 10 minutes only. To view all Webcams for unlimited time you must subscribe to XXL features.
  • 21. I am disconnected from the chat room and I see message that says connect again.
    - This is a problem on the network of your ISP. Close the window with the error message and reconnect again.
  • 22. When I logged on to chat rooms, my antivirus says the presence of a "Trojan".
    - Some anti-virus programs may misinterpret the stream of bobTV and indicate the presence of a "Trojan". Ignore this message or turn off your antivirus.
  • 23. Plugin installation instructions.
    To connect to the chat rooms you must download and install the CamfrogWeb plugin. This plugin is safe for your computer, you must use Windows (XP, Vista, Seven) to install it.

    If your browser is Internet Explorer or Firefox, the installation will start automatically by clicking the yellow bar at the top of your window (Internet Explorer 6, 7 and 8, Firefox) or bottom of your window (Internet Explorer 9). Restart your browser is required.
    If you use another browser (Chrome, Safari, Opera), the installation is done manually in accordance with the following procedure:
    1. Enregistrez http://www.bobtv.fr/download/v2/CFWebU_all.exe the plugin on your computer.
    2. Exécutez the plugin.
    3. Redémarrez your browser by closing all windows and opening them again.

  • 24. I am unable to install the plugin of bobTV HD room
    - or -
    I have installed the plugin, but I cannot enter the chat, a message appears : "Please wait - Downloading skin and language files..."
    Disable the User Account Control in Windows, following these instructions:

    If you're running Vista :
    1. Go to the Control Panel (from the menu at the bottom left of your screen).
    2. Go to "User Accounts" and click on "Enable or disable the User Account Control".
    3. Uncheck "Use User Account Control".
    4. Click OK.
    5. Restart your computer.
    6. Connect to bobTV HD.

    If you're running Windows Seven :
    1. Go to the Control Panel (from the menu at the bottom left of your screen)
    2. Click on the "User Accounts and Family Safety."
    3. Click on the link "User Accounts".
    4. Click on the link "Change User Account Control settings"
    5. Slide the cursor down "Never notify"
    6. OK.
    7. Restart your computer.
    8. Connect to bobTV HD.
  • 25. What is the title of the Allopass transaction to be listed on my credit card statement.
    - It will not be mentioned as bobTV on your credit card statement. The title of the transaction is "Mobiquid".
  • 26. I have paid Allopass and it sent me a ticket number to be entered on the site within 30 days.
    - The ticket number Allopass is not useful because all tasks have been automated at bobTV. Your nickname is activated by XXL as soon as payment is made, you have nothing to do.
